Online tuition FAQS
How do I know if my child would benefit from tuition?
What happens during a typical session?
Tuition is helpful whether your child needs a confidence boost, is struggling with specific concepts, or requires stretching for exams like the Kent Test or GCSEs. An initial diagnostic assessment is the best way to see how we can help.
Sessions are delivered online in a calm and structured learning environment. We begin by reviewing previous learning, introduce new topics through clear explanations and examples, and then move on to guided practice where your child applies their skills independently.
Are lessons tailored to my child?
Do parents receive feedback after sessions?
Absolutely. Every child learns differently. We use the results of our initial assessment to build a bespoke learning plan that targets specific gaps while building on their existing strengths.
Yes, open communication is vital. We provide regular updates on your child's progress, highlighting successes and discussing the next steps in their learning journey so you're always kept in the loop.
When should my child start preparing for the Kent Test?
Can tuition guarantee a pass?
Most parents find that starting in Year 4 or at the beginning of Year 5 provides the ideal balance, allowing for thorough coverage of the curriculum and exam techniques without causing unnecessary stress for the child.
While we cannot guarantee an exam result, we do guarantee high-quality teaching, dedicated support, and a significant improvement in academic skills and confidence, which gives your child the best possible chance of success.
Where do lessons take place?
How long is each session?
Lessons take place online, allowing your child to learn from the comfort and familiarity of their own home. We recommend a quiet, distraction-free space where they can settle quickly, focus fully and make the most of their lesson. This creates a calm, purposeful learning environment that supports concentration, confidence and academic progress.
Our standard sessions run for 50 minutes. This is a carefully considered lesson length, providing enough time to introduce and explore new learning, practise key skills and consolidate understanding, while helping students maintain focus and engagement throughout the session.
What is your cancellation policy?
How do you track my child's progress?
Please refer to our Terms and Conditions, available on this website. By booking a session with Tibbits Teaching & Tuition, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to our Terms and Conditions.
We use a combination of ongoing formative assessment during lessons, periodic reviews of session work, and mock papers where appropriate to monitor and record meaningful growth throughout the academic year.
Do you have experience supporting children with additional needs?
Do you set homework?
Yes, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive service. We have extensive experience adapting our teaching methods to support children with various learning needs, ensuring every child feels capable and valued.
Yes, we usually set small, focused tasks to reinforce the learning that took place during the session. We believe regular practice is the key to long-term retention and academic success.
How many children are in a group session?
How do I get started?
Our group sessions are strictly limited to small sizes, ensuring each child receives the individual attention they deserve while also benefiting from the collaborative and peer-learning opportunities that groups provide.
Your first two sessions are payable in advance. This gives you and your child the opportunity to experience our approach and decide whether you would like to continue tuition with us.

Payment secures your child’s agreed session time and reflects the professional time, preparation and expertise dedicated to their individual learning.

If you choose to continue after these initial sessions, your regular booking arrangements will then begin.
